Lawn care tips
In extreme heat, lawn care requires a strategic approach to protect your grass and ensure its health. Here are some tips to help your lawn survive the heatwave:
- Water Wisely: Water early in the morning to allow
- the water to soak into the soil before the sun's heat causes evaporation. Avoid overwatering to prevent shallow root systems and increase disease risk.
- Mow at the Right Height: Raise your mower blade to a higher setting, leaving your grass about 3 to 4 inches tall. Taller grass provides more shade to the soil, reducing evaporation and keeping the roots cool
- Leave Clippings: Leave grass clippings on the lawn to return moisture and nutrients to stressed turf. They decompose into a natural mulch that holds moisture in the soil, shades the surface, and feeds your lawn nitrogen as they break down.
Do not apply fertiliser as this can induce heat stress
By following these tips, you can help your lawn survive the heatwave and maintain its health and vibrancy. Remember, consistency is key, and with the right approach, your lawn can thrive even during extreme heat conditions.
